  4. Raj says:

It’s very happy to listen Ilaya Raja’s Music. He cannot be comapred with any other musicians. In early day’s, if 7 films are going to be released in a month then 5 of them should be Ilaya Raja’s Music. Now a days, the new music direcors maximum they can score 5 films in a year. That too they are copying the music from others.

    Sattru Munbu – Ramya

Ramya looks to be a good singer, and the frailty in her voice is almost felt. I felt that it’s more likely to be used as a background score.
I was quickly running out of technical words to praise Illayaraja’s work. Packed with a lot of amazing (truly) compositions, this one is gonna be a roaring hit with everyone, the young and the old. Illayaraja might be old, but some of his numbers come close to sweet sixteen like anyone else’s. And when they do, they blow you away.

Well said vj i agree ur comment.very bad lyrics so is not heart touch.. …

  10. vj says:

Wonderful music but lyrics are not that good which is affecting the songs. Very very basic word choice.
Otherwise mesmerizing original authentic Raja music after a long time.
Listen to Mayilu, very good composition.
Never compare Rahman, he is a very good sound engineer but not a creative musician like Raja.
Listen to this song in you tube to understand what i mean – T-Pain – 5 O’Clock ft. Wiz Khalifa, Lily Allen.
Tell me if you dont see any resemblance to Vinnai Thandi.

it’s great to see that we as a forum matured enough to accept Individual’s preferences and choices without hurting others. no wonder being an ardent raja fan, NEPV satisfied many and disappointed some as they say. but interesting point is made in the discussion about compulsion to listen albums(forgot the name, bad my searching skills). few years ago if the music is not appealing in the first listening to me, I would not get back to it and felt there is nothing special in it. but there are so many albums later found it wonderful and I now openly say that raaja always keeps me stupid in this regard. he always keeps something special for repeated listening that needs to grow in you or it deserved enough listening to understand what he actually delivered spontaneously with in few minutes.

now if we think of concentration, we also have enough stuffs to distract from listening music. touch pads, splashing mobile screens social networking updates etc etc as we pay little attention in the first few listening.if we really want to explore any music we need to listen at least few times to get the overall structure of the song.it doesn’t mean that we all came down as music listeners because of these constraints, it just takes more number of times than how we previously listened. we do had radio’s before but the time we listened we never had any interruptions. now the most irritating part from FM stations is they always talk something even after the prelude starts. again they cut the song abruptly before it completes.well I may want to be in old school but I couldn’t digest when the FM play thendral vanthu theendum bothu humming and at the same time some legendary RJ choose to talk.

more importantly raja never chooses an easy path to reach us, he adds so many complex layers at the same time he simplifies it for people like us to understand his way of working. to keep all in mind, whenever I listend with 100% concentration satru munbu gave me continuous goosebumps. it doesn’t mean that it is the best song in the album. this album is absolute delight and this needs to be preserved and cherished by ardent fans like us. so don’t miss it just because we couldn’t spend some more time which the album rightly deserved.

I am a devoted fan of two constructs: the European Classical (Bach, Beethven, Mozart) and how they adapt so well to Tamil music in the hands of seasoned musician like Ilayaraaja. I admit – I am a bit biased towards his music. NEPV is a wonderful treat to those of us who love European Classicals. You don’t have to love it though to like this album. There is a lot of soul in songs like Kaatrai Konjam and Mudhal Murai and even the one sung by Yuvan (Sayndhu). Ilayaraaja is a rarity in Indian film music. The only constructive feedback I have about this album is that some of the other songs could have been slightly more “indianized” like he used to do in his early years. But then Gautham V Menon is a very “anglo-styled” film maker and he probably asked for this.

It is a musical treat to all. Wonderful work on strings (AS ALWAYS!) and this time strings include the Electric Guitar. I loved the garage band style drumming and Electric guitar work in Kaatrai Konjam and Mudhal Murai. Thanks Ilayaraaja – for once more reminding me why I fell in love with your film music in the first place!

Disappointed. It is not Raja’s standard. No where near Vinnai Thandi. However, YENNODU VAA by Karthik is somewhat better and orchestration in SATTRUMUNBU is good. I thnk GM has taken a wrong decision in changing AR. Rehman.

All the songs are mind blowing. Few of my American friends liked the song Sattru Munbu sang by Ramya Ramya. She looks to be a good singer, and the frailty in her voice is almost felt. I felt that it’s more likely to be used as a background score. I am sure it will be used by our Great Raja Sir!!. When I listened to this song, I was quickly running out of technical words to praise our Illayaraja’s work. It is fully packed with a lot of amazing compositions, this one is gonna be a roaring hit with everyone, the young and the old. our Raja Sir might be old, but some of his numbers come close to sweet sixteen like anyone else’s. And when they do, they blow you away. Perfect example of a strong comeback by Maestro Isaignani Ilayaraja and a new combo in style for Gautham Menon… Keep listening to the Awesome songs.

For me, NEP recalls 80’s and 90’s…Perfect melodies for this year. After all, even Google translator accepts that “Isaignani” translates to “Ilaiyaraaja” and not “A man with great knowledge in music” because Ilaiyaraaja is an individual that is greater than a man with a great knowledge in music.

Gautham menon has a very good music sense and he is a hardcore Raja sir fan. So there is no doubt this album is an treat for “ALL MUSIC LOVERS”. All music lovers love Raja sir music.

it’s great to see that we as a forum matured enough to accept Individual’s preferences and choices without hurting others. no wonder being an ardent raja fan, NEPV satisfied many and disappointed some as they say. but interesting point is made in the discussion about compulsion to listen albums(forgot the name, bad my searching skills). few years ago if the music is not appealing in the first listening to me, I would not get back to it and felt there is nothing special in it. but there are so many albums later found it wonderful and I now openly say that raaja always keeps me stupid in this regard. he always keeps something special for repeated listening that needs to grow in you or it deserved enough listening to understand what he actually delivered spontaneously with in few minutes.

Good orchestration done by IR the great. Nearly 10-15 years the ears have damaged. We need to repair the ears. That too with the great IR’s music with good orchestration created. Mr. Alphonse I am very sorry to accept your words. Our Ilayaraaja is always great. Nobody should be compared with him. Once the duo MSV & TKR had ruled the filmdom, after that we have got a gift from the predecessors. That is we have got the great Ilayaraajaa. After that nobody have the right to rule the filmdom, except the TRIO MSV-TKR & IR. Still the gap could not filled up by anybody. Still the trios are ruling. This kind of jealous peoples are not able to digest the real facts. One thing should remember. Creators cannot be destroyed by any jealousy type peoples. They don’t want any awards or rewards. Their own creatives will be the award and reward.

eat and sleep . y…try to make kmc joke…..

    • murali says:

Mr. Karthik, just transpose the words as, ARR trying to be a IR. This is the correct line. Why you are blindly supporting ARR. What do you know about music? Or atleast try to understand the music. What type of music ARR is created? Are you a deaf human? Or do you have any consciousness. Be careful. Don’t speak like a disturbed mad.

    • murali says:

Mr. Karthik your statement (IR trying to be a ARR) is absolutely wrong. IR is a creator. ARR is not a creator that too CUT-COPY & PASTE music director. I want to tell you please compare the musics of IR from the beginning with ARR. You can easily find the difference about IRs’ creation. Even ARR may be a great keyboard player (music mechanic). But a keyboard player cannot become a creator. But IR is not like that. He can create, modify and invent anything in music. But AR is doing repair like cut, copy & paste (repair). If you don’t like IR leave it. But don’t compare with others.

  31. Peter says:

Music by Ilaiyaraja is not upto expectations. only song that stands out in the album is “ennodu va va endru ”

Good music by ilaiyraja is spoiled by poor lyrics by Na.Muthukumar.
